Forest Camps

Genuine Forest School is based on the twin principles of risk and trust, and although we are always on hand to lead activities, our goal is the free flow adrenaline fuelled session in which we are only part players.

We see ourselves as facilitators of these wild time activities and encourage the children to look to nature and the environment for their lead and ideas.

We find this approach creates resilient, tough, problem solvers and deep lateral thinkers.

Holiday Camps

Holiday Camp has become firmly established in our yearly plans. These run during most of the School Holiday periods for a few days or weeks (summer), all year in all weathers. Based in one of a number of forests in the Haslemere area and operating from 0900 to 1700 hrs.

Summer camp has overnight camping for families and also for older children who are tough and experienced enough to do this unsupported. Parents are welcome to stay overnight but are usually required to leave by 0900 in order for the day camp fun to continue unabated. Our field kitchen caters for overnighters and a roaring campfire offers warmth and protection from Bears.

Daily activities are fun and free flowing and nothing is scheduled. Leaders and guest instructors will ask for volunteers for their activities, if the hammock is the most attractive idea then that’s where the children are welcome to stay and hang out. This is their time not ours!

We are fully inclusive at our camp and everyone is welcome to contribute to the fun. Some camps are limited in numbers so please book early.

What we do

  • Please name everything your child brings to camp
  • A pack lunch and water bottle
  • A waterproof bag with a full set of change of clothes and several pairs of socks
  • Long sleeved t-shirts, long trousers (not really jeans as these can be uncomfortable when wet and can restrict movement)
  • Water-proof trousers and coat (not shower proof)
  • Waterproof boots (wellies or walking boots)  We recommend ‘Warm Wellies’ and a discount is available when purchasing online – please ask us for the discount code
  • In cold weather a base layer under normal clothes
  • In darker months children will need a torch, preferably a head torch
  • It is useful to have a simply back pack but not essential
